Hello there. I saw you make a couple chemistry-related pages...thank you very much for your contributions to Wikipedia :)
Proposed deletion of :Oxycation
The article :Oxycation has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Just a friendly tip for the future: please try to make articles with a bit more content rather than mostly linking to other pages. For example, you wrote on Oxygen fluoride: "An oxygen fluoride is a compound containing oxygen and fluorine," and then proceeded to link to some chemical compounds.
<blockquote>Not notable, or even a thing. No sources, Original research</blockquote>

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
It would be really great if maybe you could put a bit more information, since wikipedia is not a dictionary. Thank you so much. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me. -Frazzydee|&#9997; 23:53, 10 May 2005 (UTC)
:If one name is the same as another, you can make it redirect to the other page. For example, George Walker Bush redirects to George W. Bush. I redirected your page on Fluorine oxide to the proper name. To see how I did it, go to this page. -Frazzydee|&#9997; 23:56, 10 May 2005 (UTC)

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the proposed deletion/dated notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Hello
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing proposed deletion/dated will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.<!-- Template:Proposed deletion notify --> Johnjbarton (talk) 19:38, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
Hi, I'm User:Walkerma, and I see you have been very active setting up new categories for inorganics- this is a lot of work, and I think it is very helpful for the long term. I realise that we may only have a couple of compounds of strontium or osmium now, but that will certainly change, so I appreciate your work on this.
Nomination of :Oxycation for deletion
<div class="afd-notice">
<div class="floatleft" style="margin-bottom:0;"></div>A discussion is taking place as to whether the article :Oxycation is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Oxycation until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
I wanted to see if we could interest you in joining us on the Chemicals "Wikiproject". This is a coordinated effort by a group of chemists and others to put together a coherent collection of pages on chemical compounds. It ensures that people don't duplicate each others' work and that the pages develop well. You can see how things are going on our Wikipedia:WikiProject_Chemicals/Organization. Personally I'd appreciate your help with lists- I am basically the sole author of List of inorganic compounds and inorganic compounds by element, but these are incomplete (though you may well find them useful for your categorisation work). The group has been pretty active of late- see the activity on my talk page recently! I hope you will Wikipedia:WikiProject_Chemicals#Participants|join us]]- and maybe you'll create a user page too? Thanks, Walkerma 19:09, 13 May 2005 (UTC)

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.<!-- Template:Afd notice --></div> Johnjbarton (talk) 19:23, 11 May 2025 (UTC)

Can you add some (or a lot, if you can) information to your Chlorous acid article? If not, someone will soon delete it. &rarr; <font face="Euclid Fraktur"> <font color="black">Jarlaxle</font><font color="gold">Artemis</font></font> 00:59, May 19, 2005 (UTC)

Please do not create empty pages, they will be deleted. --W(t) 01:00, 2005 May 19 (UTC)

Please can you put in more content, beyond a simple chemical formula? Substubs of this sort are OK for a dictionary, but not here. Substubs in chemistry frequently are more of a problem than a help, as they have to be cleaned up, which takes much longer than the time to type "sodium peroxide has the formula Na2O2." The following pages need content added in my opinion:
Potassium peroxide
Sodium superoxide
Sodium oxide
Pentan-3-one
Yttrium oxide
Chlorous acid
Dichlorine monoxide
Dichlorine heptoxide
Fluorine oxide
Sodium perchlorate
Magnesium perchlorate

If these pages don't get expanded, they will be deleted or made into redirects. Can I suggest the following when you are writing a page on a compound:
# First- why are you writing the page? You should have something to say. If not, don't waste everyone's time. If the compound is "worthy of your time" then you must know what it is used for, or some interesting fact about it. It's used in fireworks, semiconductors, etc. That's what we are looking for.
# Get a good catalogue like the Aldrich catalogue, or the CRC Handbook and use that to get basic data on MP, safety, solubility, molar mass, etc.
# Consider using a simple date table
# Consider joining :Wikipedia:WikiProject_Chemicals and [[Wikipedia:WikiProject_Chemicals/Organization|coordinating your activities with others.

By the way, thanks a lot for all of your work on categories, it is VERY much appreciated. Walkerma 21:47, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
