The exponential advances in biolotechnology, for example doubling every year of DNA sequencing and synthesis for the same cost (similar to [[Moore's law]] for computer systems) is likely to create a subculture of biohackers who will increasingly tinker with available genes and even create completely new genes with novel functions.
