Wikipedia's coverage of Sudan, Africa's third-largest state, is woefully lacking. Filling in the remaining gaps in basic coverage is a priority, though the periodic Featured Article is nice as well.

== A Note On Transliteration ==

I've got some data culled from Google on various transliterations of terms related to Sudan. It seems as good a way as any to try to settle on a standard transliteration. For example, here are some data for [[Janjaweed]]:

* Janjaweit 23

* Jangawid 41

* Janjuweed 65

* Jingaweit 404

* Janjawid 7210

* Janjaweed 18000

So in this case ''Janjaweed'' is certainly the best transliteration. I'll post more of these in respective articles. Perhaps we could look into an Article on tips on consistently transliterating [[Arabic]]?
