I've added a comparison table which lists only some portable virtual machine designs, and retitled the original list to distinguish it as a list of virtual machine implementations. Jeskeca (talk) 22:43, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

The first section of the article refers to "CIL" several times, but there is no antecedent for that acronym. One might infer that it is a reference to "CLR", but while a quick look at that page seems to indicate there is a relationship between CIL and CLR, it isn't clear without a more detailed investigation. Please provide clarification. MrRedwood (talk) 22:59, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

C-- (C minus minus)?
<http://www.cminusminus.org/> isn't mentioned

guile-1.9 VM
The newest GNU guile (a scheme (programming language) implementation) has a VM that also has an ECMAscript (JavaScript) implementation on it, and some general-design-your-own-language tools for it. It should be listed here ... linas (talk) 22:19, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Parrot and Precompilation
From what I get Parrot supports precompilation. What's the reason for a No on in the table? --Athaba (talk) 18:04, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Shared Library and Dalvik
If this means what i think it means, this should be listed as "YES". The NDK (native development kit) takes JNI code and builds .so's for inclusion in the .apk used for your application or service.

What does this mean? Does it have to do with object access syntax regardless of the client language used? <span style="font-size: smaller;" class="autosigned">— Preceding unsigned comment added by 160.109.104.44 (talk) 20:34, 3 June 2013 (UTC)</span><!-- Template:Unsigned IP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

APL and J
APL (programming language) is an older Virtualization System initially defined for education but utilized across the computer, scientific, and other areas.Using a different form and semantics than other programming languages it is implemented as a p-code like system with a large operator set.

J (programming language) is a variant enhancement that does not utilize the special APL character set. <!-- Template:Unsigned IP --><small class="autosigned">—&nbsp;Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.237.192.13 (talk) 23:06, 4 November 2018 (UTC)</small> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

WASM
Is the WASM run time missing from the list? Not sure if it should go here, otherwise I would have added it myself. <!-- Template:Unsigned IP --><small class="autosigned">—&nbsp;Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.64.132.178 (talk) 22:46, 22 October 2023 (UTC)</small> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
