In 2006, van der Pol was arrested for [[DUI]] in [[Los Angeles]] after hitting a parked car and causing damage to two other cars according to the police. She had a blood alcohol level of 0.19, more than twice the legal limit in California. Van der Pol pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors. She was sentenced in 2007 and was ordered to go on probation for 36 months, as well as pay fines and assessments and attend an alcohol education program.
