You reverted a change by [[User:Aluisios|Aluisios]] on [[Barney & Friends]]...removing a comma in a date. I thought commas belonged in dates--(April 6, 1992) instead of (April 6 1992). Am I wrong? ==Recalibrated Location_map_CanadaGeo based on 8 points==
== Uhm, why the daily countdown? ==
''21-Feb-2008:'' I have recalibrated the CanadaGeo map-spec template to align the markers correctly (see: ''[[Template_talk:Location_map_CanadaGeo]]''). My phone line went dead in a rainstorm here, but I was able later to update the map settings. Sorry, for leaving the former impression that Canada cannot be mapped in Wikipedia; I want to assure you, that yes, [[Template:Location map polarx]] really can "do the impossible" and place latitude/longitude markers on those complex, real-world [[conic projection]] maps: I eventually derived the mapping formulas mathematically, to align over precise locations for most of the visible map. Due to the underlying mathematical precision, it is more likely for a particular map to have a slight graphical inaccuracy, than for the marker to miscalculate the latitude/longitude. Again, I apologize for giving the impression that complex maps cannot be handled: it does work, despite the massive, mindnumbing complexity.<br/>Remember to set "<tt>lon_shift=4.1</tt>" to compensate for the vertical-meridian (-90) as not being in the center of the map image. -[[User:Wikid77|Wikid77]] ([[User talk:Wikid77|talk]]) 19:07, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello, I finally completed the copy right permissions as per your request. I completed it once before incorrectly causing this delay! I have added the copyright details to the qiniq talk page as is suggested but I thought I would mention this to you as well in case you are able to confirm the OTRS submission that I submitted and get the content for this page back up. The title to the message I sent to the OTRS was: [Fwd: Re: Wikipedia Copyright Authorization]

I have not received a trouble ticket number back, I use OTRS at work so not getting this concerns me, it should be automated. This is in relation to the content that you temporarily removed from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qiniq

I thought you could help because you have edited that article a lot. I posted my question on the discussion page for that article, but I'll copy and paste it below too.

Hi

From the article discussion page:
My edit was not a test. If you believe the stuff you've just put up on the web in the article at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychiatry you're an idiot.

==== Broken Link! (7 Future Section) ====
Thank you for this. I believe that I will follow your recomendation, and then review the tutorials. Yours sincerely, Richard Bell
I found a new link for the broken link to the GTAA Planning Document .pdf file at the bottom of the page, but I am not sure if the page number references still apply. It looks like the version I found is just a lower resolution pdf than the one originally cited; I can't be sure though, since I can't find the original document.
old link: http://www.gtaa.com/%5CDocuments%5Ccorporate%5CPickeringAirportDraftPlanReportHiRes.pdf

new link: http://www.gtaa.com/local/files/en/PickeringAirportDraftPlanReport.pdf
== A Cernen's Plusbox! ==

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to tell who originally added those references? Maybe that person would be able to find the new page numbers to go with the new link?
{{user:Cernen/template:plusbox|CambridgeBayWeather|being per'aps one of the most strange, witty, and insightful people at the Reference Desk.}}{{clear}}[[User:Cernen|Cernen]] 21:26, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

If not, here is an example of the problem I had relating the new document to the old one without the old one as a reference.
== Canada-airport-stub ==
For example, the wiki article currently cites page 6, but the pages on the new version are numbered i, ii, iii, not including the title page until chapter 1 begins, at which point they are numbered 1:1, 1:2, 1:3.. until chapter 2, where they are 2:1, 2:2, etc.. Page 1:6 is blank. There is no page vi (6) in the intro section, however if you begin numbering at page 1, as Adobe pdf reader does, page 6 corresponds to page v of the document, which is titled "Foreword," not a blank page.

Anyway, I'm not really a pro at this, so any suggestions would be appreciated. [[User:Jalirpa|Jalirpa]] ([[User talk:Jalirpa|talk]]) 14:59, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
At [[WP:WSS/P|WikiProject Stub sorting]], I recently proposed a template {{tl|Canada-airport-stub}}. If there are no objections by tomorrow, the template has been cleared and I will create the template and matching category. As far as I know, it's not possible to sort the stubs alphabetically, unfortunately. [[User:Aecis|Aecis]] [[User_talk:Aecis|praatpaal]] 09:51, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
___________________________________________________________

*Don't worry, there are many Canadian airports in {{tl|NorthAm-airport-stub}}. The ones you are about to create or move can be resorted to the new stub category in one go. So there's no problem if you create more stubs. [[User:Aecis|Aecis]] [[User_talk:Aecis|praatpaal]] 17:45, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
**There is no bot, it's all manual work. There are probably 100 to 200 stubs about Canadian airports, which is not much. I don't know the exact number, because I'm still sorting out {{cl|Airport stubs}}. There might be some more lurking in there. [[User:Aecis|Aecis]] [[User_talk:Aecis|praatpaal]] 18:06, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
***Hehehe, I'm sorry I kept you from editing ;) If there are about 400 stubs, it means two pages. That's about 15 to 30 minutes work to re-sort them from {{tl|airport-stub}} or {{tl|NorthAm-airport-stub}} to {{tl|Canada-airport-stub}}. [[User:Aecis|Aecis]] [[User_talk:Aecis|praatpaal]] 19:17, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
Re-sorting is about as easy as it gets. It's simply copy-pasting the template tag with a small notice in the edit summary ("Stub" usually is enough). Even the most overpopulated stub categories can easily be emptied in a few hours. The reason {{tl|Airport-stub}} is taking a bit longer is because of other activities on wikipedia and in real life, but at 1,180 articles originally, it would have taken perhaps 4 to 5 hours of diligent work to empty the category. [[User:Aecis|Aecis]] [[User_talk:Aecis|praatpaal]] 19:30, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

Wow. Well done in moving the Canadian airports to Canada-airport-stub. We'll see if there are any more Canadian airport stubs in airport-stub, but I don't think you've missed many ;) When I proposed the stub, I never imagined there would be so many Canadian airports. As you can probably tell, I'm amazed :) [[User:Aecis|Aecis]] [[User_talk:Aecis|praatpaal]] 12:16, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
*The Canadian airports have now all been moved to Canada-airport-stub, and {{cl|Airport stubs}} has been cleaned up. Thanks a lot for your hard work. I have decided to revert your revert. You are vandalising the entry for Upper Canada College (re Conrad Black). I have reviewed your NUMEROUS edits, and I see that you are a serial vandaliser - simply reverting other people's edits. In this particular case, I suggest that you take the time to BOTHER to even investigate even the SURFACE of the man - hey, he's a convicted felon - due to report for a 6-1/2 year federal sentence starting Monday - convicted for fraud (just go look at his Wikipedia entry, idiot - DUH!!!!.*

Anyway, I am going to keep a watch on you, and if you continue your conduct, them I am going to randomly go down your list of edits and reverse them. This is a warning to you - DO NOT JUST REVERSE EDITS ON ENTRIES WHICH YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT SIMPLY BECAUSE OF YOUR PREJUDICES.
I know this person, what is wrong with this edit? If I can't edit, then why on God's Green Earth do you have the option for me to edit?

Are you in Cambridge Bay? I have visited CamBay's website and it has info about the town, but one of the glaring omissions is a map of the town showing the streets. If you know anyone who manages the town's website, perhaps you could prevail upon them to correct that oversight! [[User:Gcapp1959|GBC]] 05:23, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi! About a year ago, you deleted an bio I'd written under my previous username, that of [[Don Laughlin]]. I can assure you that Mr. Laughlin is slightly more than a "noted gambler." He founded the town of [[Laughlin, Nevada]] itself, is the founder and owner of the [[Riverside Resort Hotel & Casino]] (itself worthy of better article) as well as a major cattle ranch in Kingman, Arizona and regularly pumps millions of dollars into the local economy. In fact, he paid for the bridge at the north end of town which connects Laughlin with Bullhead City, Arizona. The town has an article; Mr. Laughlin's bio has a red link. I don't think that finding suitable third-party references will be a problem. I wrote that article before that edict was so strictly adhered to. Might I ask you to please restore this article so that I can add some third-party refs to it? Thanks. I kept trying to figure out how to make the Image smaller, I come back see you had done it for me! I did notice how it was done with the Mp entered in with it like that. But I was dumb enough to post something on the page you told me(User:America Needs Jesus/Basketball) that was not right so I added 1 to the end of it. How can, that is if I can delete that page now? ==Hay River==
==Sudbury airports and aerodromes==
Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Most likely what happened is that ''I'' made a mistake of some kind when I was converting the radio stations list from the old format to the table — particularly given that the city said Kakisa but the station was listed between Hay River and Inuvik, and consequently ''separated'' from the other two Kakisa listings. And a Google search does confirm that it's a community station in Hay River; there are at least two CRTC license decisions for it. For obvious reasons, the fastest way to convert the radio lists is to cut and paste a completed table line and then change whatever has to be changed, so there's obvious potential for messing up every once in a while. And the reference source that we used to compile the radio lists (the radio lists at TVRadioWorld.com) can occasionally be wrong, too, in which case I'm invariably going to replicate any error of theirs that I can't personally identify as an error. So I've changed the listing.
Heh. No worries. I try to fix those kinds of things anyway. (You'd be surprised how many times I've had to repair [[Sudbury Neutrino Observatory]] to note that the observatory is not, in fact, outside of the city.) [[User:Bearcat|Bearcat]] 08:22, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi Alan,
[[User:Hard Raspy Sci|Hard Raspy Sci]] 08:41, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

I understand your concern over the African topic template. The way it currently works is to link articles about people from different African countries together. That is not the main intention of the template. It should eventually work like [[Template:Africa topic]]. If you're not familiar with the Africa topic, the idea is you can place the template on any article and add something to the beginning (ex. "Fauna of", "HIV/AIDS in"), and then it automatically generates links to that topic for every African country. Unfortunately, this doesn't work when you want the articles to generate with the demonym starting off (ex. "African art", "African literature"). The African topic template is supposed to take care of that. Unfortunately, I don't know enough Wiki code in order to make it work properly. If you do, please feel free to make the appropriate changes! The other problem you mentioned about the consistency of articles to which demonyms redirect is an important issue as well. I am unsure as to which type of article is most appropriate. What do you think would be best?

== New Orleans/ Oklahoma City Hornets ==

I apologize for trying to add my point of view to the article. However, the logo I have kept adding is their official logo. The Hornets never abandoned that logo, however they NEVER adopted the logo you keep replacing mine with. That is a logo created by an Oklahoman, not the Hornets. The Hornets have never endorsed that logo, which completely ignores New Orleans. Lately, the team has chosen to use its city-neutral "H" logo, which I have just placed in the article in place of the phony, fabricated logo. I apologize if you thought I was simply trying to eradicate Oklahoma City from the site, but the Oklahoma City logo is completely inaccurate and does not belong in a serious encyclopedia striving for correctness.
In addition, I felt the recent events section unfairly served only the Oklahoma City point of view while completely ignoring Louisiana. I have toned down my rhetoric, but I can think of no more accurate word than "steal." New Orleans has done nothing to lose the team, but Oklahoma City is doing everything to take it. At this point there is no reason to believe that the Hornets will denounce all their previous commitments and relocate to Oklahoma City. Neither the NBA nor the team has said anything to that effect, and any inference in the Wikipedia entry to the relocation is factually incorrect and reflects the point of view of only the citizens of Oklahoma, not the rest of the US, the NBA, the Hornets, or any credible members of the sports world.
I have merely been trying to add useful, accurate information about the team's New Orleans connection and trying to get rid of blatantly opinionistic rhetoric from Oklahomans. I shall continue to strive to retain accuracy on the Hornets entry in Wikipedia, and at the same time I shall strive to leave my pro-New Orleans point of view out of my edits.
I thank you for your suggestions, and I appreciate your hard work to preserve the correctness of the site. Thank you.

== Ottawa airport ==
: Many of the airport infoboxes currently use the "coor dms" template to display the coordinates with a link to the "map sources" page. The problem with "coor dms" when used in the airport infobox is that some browsers wrap the text onto a second line creating something which looks like this:
:: 35°41′21″N, 51°
:: 18′49″E
: The point of creating "coor dms2" was to have it wrap in a more logical point, between the latitude and longitude:
:: 35° 41′ 21″ N
:: 51° 18′ 49″ E
: I also added spaces between the degrees, minutes and seconds to make it easier to read. The only difference between "coor dms" and "coor dms2" is how the text is displayed. Both templates should generate the same URL for the Map Sources page, assuming they are given the same coordinates. The reason for the change in the [[Castlegar Airport]] page is because besides changing from "coor dms" to "coor dms2", I also added "type:airport":
: ''original'':
:: <nowiki>{{coor dms|49|17|47|N|117|37|57|W|}}</nowiki>
:: {{coor dms|49|17|47|N|117|37|57|W|}}
:: this causes the map sources page to use a scale of approx. 1 : 300,000
: ''my edit'':
:: <nowiki> {{coor dms2|49|17|47|N|117|37|57|W|type:airport}}</nowiki>
:: {{coor dms2|49|17|47|N|117|37|57|W|type:airport}}
:: this causes the map sources page to use a scale of approx. 1 : 30,000

I changed it because yes, it is in the Calgary area. Airdrie is Calgary's nearest suburb in fact. While I can see that it is not referenced as Calgary/Airdire in the airport's own website, this is also the case for the websites's of other airports such as Springbank which is known simply as Springbank Airport and not Calgary/Springbank. So, the question is, do we use a consistent labeling method that follows that ANY airport within the metropolitan area of a larger centre shall be named like Calgary/Airdrie, or do we simply assume that since this was not mentioned excplicity in third party literature that it must therefore not be true? --[[User:Tyson2k|Tyson2k]] 16:03, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Hey, CBW! I'm not sure whether MCR would make a viable topic - basically (almost) every Oxford college has a JCR (Junior Common Room), MCR (Middle..) and SCR (Senior..). The first comprises the undergraduate student body, the second the graduates, and the third the College fellows. The two student common rooms take charge of things like their members' welfare, organising entertainments, campaigning on student issues etc. Does that explain things well?

What do you need done? [[User:Lommeri|Lommeri]] 09:50, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I've seen the MOS on trademarks - that user pointed it out to me too. My problem is the usage in the article isn't within the context of a trademark. What we're talking about is the legal name of the company, which is TELUS Corporation, not Telus Corporation. Any of the places where we'd source information to use as a reference in the article - the provincial securities commissions, the corporations branch of their home province, etc. - would reflect the name in that manner.
OK, I'll start on that, I get obsessed on this kind of stuff also, so far mostly for something to do

Hello. I have one of those situations for which I need an admin's opinion. The Slogans of May 68 article was tagged by [[User:RHaworth|RHaworth]] as a candidate to be copied to Wikiquote. In the last 24 hours, an anonymous user decided to be bold and simply create a Wikiquote page with the same content. Since the article never went through the transwiki process, what should be done with it? Should I just blank it and turn it into a redirect? Or, is there some other process? Having never dealt with this issue, I felt I should get some guidance. == African airport stub templates and categories ==

Hi CBW - every now and again, I complain about someone making an unproposed stub template - or sometimes two or three unproposed stub templates. This is the first time I've ever had to say that anyone's created ''56'' unproposed stub types, plus five categories... As it states at [[Wikipedia:Stub]], at the top of most stub categories, and in many other places on Wikipedia, it is recommended that new stub types are proposed prior to creation at [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals]], in order to check whether the new stub type is already covered by existing stub types, whether it is named according to stub naming guidelines, whether it is otherwise correctly formatted, whether it reaches the standard threshold for creation of a new stub type, and whether it crosses existing stub type hierarchies. Most of your new stub types are currently listed at [[WP:WSS/D]], and two of them have been proposed for deletion or renaming - please feel free to make any comments there as to any rationale for these stub types. And please, in future, consider proposing new stub types first - it'll save us a huge amount of work in future if you do! [[User:Grutness|Grutness]]...''[[User_talk:Grutness|<small style="color:#008822;">wha?</small>]]'' 01:19, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
:''Before I created the stubs I checked through the Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting pages, to ensure that they followed the guidlines laid out there, but I found my self very disturbed by the amount of control the project is attempting to exert. I have nothing against the members and I am sure that the aims and goals of the project and the people involved with it are only trying to help Wikipedia. However, I find the idea of having to ask permission to edit is un-Wikipedia like. We trust editors to create articles, complex templates, categories and upload material, but to create a stub type, they have to ask permission. Do you not find it a bit strange that you need to ask permission (Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion/Log/2008/April/6) to delete a category, update nine templates and create the correct category?''
::I can understand your points, but believe me, there are good reasons why stub creation is a little more tied in red tape than other parts of Wikipedia. I don't find it strange at all, not when you consider that stub sorters have to try to keep some sort of organisation in a very complex system in order for it to work to the best advantage both of themselves and of editors in general. Unlike permanent categories, which are for the benefit of readers, stub categories are for the benefit of editors and as such have different requirements - including keeping them close to a "sweet spot" as far as size is concerned. As such, it's really necessary to confirm that any new categories will not be too small or too big to be of practical use - and it's also necessary to keep the people who actually sort stubs in the loop when it comes to the creation of new templates, otherwise many stubs will still be sorted using old, no-longer used templates. We laready have a major problem with many deprecated stub types having to be kept so as not to confuse anyone who sorts stubc asually and might expect an old, no-longer-used template to still be there. In the case of the categories you made, {{cl|African airport stubs}} was right close to the centre of the "sweet spot" at around 450 stubs, and the split of Africa by subregion is being slowly phased out where it is used elsewhere in the stub system, so the creation of these five new categories has caused a ittle concern. "Asking permission to edit" is not that uncommon in Wikipedia, BTW - many pages have restrictions on editing, and even the old watchword [[WP:BOLD]] has a note that it primarily applies to articles, and that categories and templates require more circumspection. And the size of the various deletion process pages is evidence that, while we may trust other editors to make pages, templates and the like, they don't always do it in a way that best suits Wikipedia. == Coffee and the environment article ==

I made revisions to the external links to this article, which you reverted, which I changed back.

Previous links were to a birdwatching site (linked as "Bird Friendly" and an outdated coffee site.

I clarified that the "Bird Friendly" site was a birdwatching site; I added a link to the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center's "Bird Friendly" coffee web site. They are the research institution that first developed criteria for shade coffee, and have trademarked that term. The information there is has far more authority and depth than the former site. I have no affiliation with Smithsonian.

I then added a link to my site, Coffee & Conservation, which is an non-commercial account (albeit with some clickable ads) entirely about coffee and the environment. I am an ecologist, and provide references for all scientific material on the site, either through links or citations. As the Wikipedia article is at this time very brief (I will try to work on it myself as I find time), my site is a good source of information for readers, especially considering that the other link, Coffee Contact, has not been updated since 2001.

Not sure why these links were deleted, but this is why I updated them. -- Julie, coffeehabitat@gmail.com

== Land area vs water area ==

Just curious about your 4th/5th in area edit re the [[British Columbia]] article - what's the water area? Lake surfaces, I'm guessing, or are offshore waters included? I'd think ''not'' the latter, although I suspect the Strait of Georgia might have been included (?); it would be a ''lot'' more than 2.9% of total if the claimed 200mi offshore limits are included; but then Nova Scotia and Newfoundland would be a ''lot'' larger, too, huh? Must be the lakes, then, and makes me wonder what the percentage was ''before'' all the big reservoirs got built (Hechako/Ootsa, Peace/Williston and the various Columbia reservoirs and a certain list of smaller ones ([[Carpenter Lake]] et al). I suppose getting all the reservoir areas together and subtracting them from the main water-area total would help figure it out, not that it matters for the article, just an interesting tangent....a real picky serious geographer would calculate out the water area of the large rivers, too; e.g. in the Lower Mainland the Fraser is a sizeable chunk of the lowland area as it's so wide; the Columbia, Nass, Skeena, Taku and Stikine area likewise big broad rivers as are short but immense ones like the Klinaklini and Homathko.... Interesting to contemplate, difficult and citation-irrelevant to figure out as areas aren't calculated that way; but I submit if you totalled up the surface area of the Fraser from Tete Jaune Cache down to Delta/Richmond it would come out as one of the larger "water bodies" in the province. Anyway, just coffee/waking up musings....[[User:Skookum1|Skookum1]] ([[User talk:Skookum1|talk]]) 14:52, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I didn't input the population figures on that page. Someone did before me. What I did was revert the page back to the way it was before the user Paidmonk's vandalism. Hello,

== Whitman Page Copyright Violations ==
My name is Jaffer and I started editing by linking video clips. I got a user account after a few edits. I am almost 50 years old and have been in the historical video business for 20 years. I never wanted to do anything wrong (and you can call me at 708-478-4500 ext. 105 if you like).

Are you going to remove all the links in the references section to websites like Texas Monthly, etc.? <small>—Preceding [[Wikipedia:Signatures|unsigned]] comment added by [[Special:Contributions/68.34.203.161|68.34.203.161]] ([[User talk:68.34.203.161|talk]]) 05:06, 22 April 2008 (UTC)</small><!-- Template:UnsignedIP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
I have made many edits with links to video clips...most of which have been historical in nature. The site is evtv1. I have only made links where they were extremely relevant. While it is true I am connected to evtv1, the site it is really not more commercial than imdb...which was in fact sold to Amazon for over $100 million and sells advertising.

== Copyright Issues ==
All of the clips that I link to are legal and copyright permission has been granted. I truly believed that this was a service. Yes, there is advertising...but those Elvis Home Movies are priceless...and the edit was reversed. This is LEGAL Footage...isn't it worth the commercial message at the front?

I'll save you time, all of the photos in question were pulled directly from the Internet with the exception of outside school.jpg which was a scanned image from a brochure. But I didn't realize that pulling them from the Internet was in violation of Wikipedia Policy and I have since quit, but please don't respond with anymore unnecessary threats [[User:Dylant07|kickenchicken]] ([[User talk:Dylant07|talk]]) 00:19, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
I would love to continue to edit and link to APPROPRIATE videos. I am having a lot of fun and I really believe that there is value. But if you want me to stop, I will. I can be reached at Jaffer@gophercentral.com.

Please know that I love Wikipedia and do not wish to hurt it in any way. My hope would be to eventually become an administrator. [[User:216.159.242.201|216.159.242.201]] 18:10, 14 January 2006 (UTC)Jaffer

So I can continue to edit adding links as long as I am logged in? I was forgetting to log in sometimes. Will the edits I made on Elvis and JFK be put back up?
Would you mind going over to the [[Emirates Airline]] discussion page to comment on the anon who wants "double daily" and "7 (Daily), please? I'm "nervous" that perhaps I'm wrong and I'd like lots of opinions. Thanks - [[User:Arpingstone|Adrian Pingstone]] ([[User talk:Arpingstone|talk]]) 08:19, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your promptness.

Yeah, my IP is for [[User:Mistle]]

I understand on one level why you've edited the text on Sitel. However, if you have any knowledge about the way our modern world functions, you should be fully aware of the phenomenon outsourcing, i.e. large corporates relocating to countries "where salaries are as low as possible and worker rights are scarce or non existent". This is not some juvenile bitterness but rather a known fact. It is not coincidence causing workers in the "developed" part of the world to loose their jobs when the fabrics, call centers, etc. relocate to cheaper countries. Why do Microsoft hire voice coaches to learn Indians to speak with an American accent? Is it because they feel sorry for unemployed Indians? Or is it because they can hire, I don't know, five Indians for the prize of one American? Don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly happy that Indians find a steady employment (and who knows, maybe a second hand PC from the west!!!!), I just don't respect the true reason.

Ok, I will log in when I edit from now on. By the way, I have posted up my wikipedia on a few sites so people can edit them and post their opinions about me. I allow them to edit it. Please dont delete any additions unless they are vandalising it. If they are just adding to the page, leave it.
