Maurice was a soldier in the [[Korean War]] and an [[astronaut]] for [[NASA]]. At some point, he gained control of the family fortune of $68,000,000. After retiring, Maurice met [[Shelly Tambo]] and brought her up to [[Alaska]] to marry her. In the small town of Cicely, he lost his fiance to bartender [[Holling Vincoeur]], driving a wedge between the former friends. During this time, he bought the land the town was on and set up the local [[radio station]], KBEHR.
== Opinions ==
Maurice has a problem with [[homosexuality|homosexuals]]. He doesn't like [[communists]] either. He enjoys [[show tunes]], especially from ''[[The King and I]]'' and ''Porgy and Bess''. He loves to sing and never gives up an opportunity to do so. The correct designation of Maurice's radio station is KBHR, pronounced, Kay-Bare.
== Love Life ==
To this day, Maurice still holds a candle for Shelly. However he has also developed a liking for Officer Barbara Semanski, a police woman who was hired to investigate the theft of his radio. He also has yearly visits from an astronaut [[groupie]], Ingrid Klochner.
