==Deletion of Major league wiffle==
The deletion of the article "Major league wiffle" shouldn't have occured. The article was still being finished. It addressed the need for physical activity in a youths life and you should attempt to repel the deletion. It promotes the fun of a backyard game instead of most kids just playing video games. Let the article be finished before you delete it. You might have the power, don't abuse it. Vist the site www.freewebs.com/majorleaguewiffle
==Deletion of Major league wiffle cont.==
The deletion of the major league wiffle page before it was finished truly angered me. There was no reason for the deletion and I feel that this page should be reinstated at least until it is finished then it can be reevaluated by the people who delete stuff on wikipedia.

:I have the same question. DoubleBlue improved the article, adding sources and meeting the objections of at least two editors who voted to delete. I think there was a consensus to keep, particularly since early objections must be discounted if later improvements to an article make those objections obsolete, as per the "Rough consensus" section of [[WP:DGFA]] (which gives as an example the precise situation found here). == Centsports ==
You claimed this article didn't have an assertion of notability, which is completely untrue, as I the second sentence of the article was a direct statement of its notability.
I do not work for the website and had no intention of advertising it. It is an application that many of my friends and people from my school, the [[University of Florida]], were using. I came to wikipedia and searched for the article to see what this site was about, as I often do when I encounter things I am unfamiliar with. I was surprised to find that there was no article on it (as a minute number of the plethora of search items I have entered in my life yield no results). So I googled it instead, and found it to be of significance and importance.
I spent some time researching the article and assembling the page. I do not understand why it was deleted, especially for the proposed reasons ( found here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log/delete&page=Centsports), particularly the earlier accusation that it was blatant advertising. Websites such as Amazon, Ebay, Facebook, MySpace, Xanga, The Best Page in the Universe, Ain't It Cool News, FiLife.com, BibleGateway.com, and tons of other websites that I have never heard of before (like the last three I mentioned) have Wikipedia articles on them.
I am incredulous by this seemingly ignorant decision by what I understand to be three or four Wikipedia users. Please help me understand this decision. <small>—Preceding [[Wikipedia:Signatures|unsigned]] comment added by [[User:JeezBreeze|JeezBreeze]] ([[User talk:JeezBreeze|talk]] • [[Special:Contributions/JeezBreeze|contribs]]) 17:40, 18 June 2008 (UTC)</small><!-- Template:Unsigned --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

== "Blind" edit ==
Disambiguation pages are for articles, not spam links to web sites. If the subject of the site in question is notable enough for an article, then I welcome it. Otherwise, it doesn't belong because [[WP:LINKFARM|Wikipedia is not a linkfarm]]. In my first year on Wikipedia, all I got was a welcome notice on my talk page (that I never referred to) and an unhelpful warning after I tried to delete a redirect by blanking the page. Everything I learned about Wikipedia has been through reading policies, guidelines and essays on my own, as well as editing, because I'm genuinely interested in it. I've also had people revert my changes accusing me of doing things I wasn't, like [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2006_New_York_City_plane_crash&diff=100740547&oldid=100738744 here]. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community[[Wikipedia:Village_pump_(proposals)/Archive_82#Learn_to_be_a_Wikipedia_Administrator_-_New_class_at_MSU|HERE]], where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
* Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
* Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
* All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
* All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
* The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name[[User:Jaobar/Admins_to_Interview_List_1|HERE]] instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --[[User:Jaobar|Jaobar]] ([[User talk:Jaobar|talk]])23:26, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
== Invitation to events in June and July: bot, script, template, and Gadget makers wanted ==
I invite you to the [[mw:Berlin_Hackathon_2012|yearly Berlin hackathon]], 1-3 June. [https://wmberlin.eventbrite.com/ Registration is now open]. If you need financial assistance or help with visa or hotel, then please register by May 1st and mention it in [https://wmberlin.eventbrite.com/ the registration form].
This is the premier event for the MediaWiki and Wikimedia technical community. We'll be hacking, designing, teaching, and socialising, primarily talking about [[mw:ResourceLoader|ResourceLoader]] and Gadgets ([[mw:Gadget kitchen|extending functionality with JavaScript]]), the switch to [[mw:Lua scripting|Lua for templates]], [https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikidata Wikidata], and [[mw:Wikimedia Labs|Wikimedia Labs]].
We want to bring 100-150 people together, including lots of people who have not attended such events before. User scripts, gadgets, API use, Toolserver, Wikimedia Labs, mobile, structured data, templates -- if you are into any of these things, we want you to come!
I also thought you might want to know about [[mw:MediaWiki developer meetings|other upcoming events]] where you can learn more about MediaWiki customization and development, how to best use the [[mw:API|web API]] for bots, and various upcoming features and changes. We'd love to have power users, bot maintainers and writers, and template makers at these events so we can all learn from each other and chat about what needs doing.
Check out the the [[wm2012:Hackathon|developers' days preceding Wikimania in July in Washington, DC]] and [[mw:MediaWiki developer meetings|our other events]].
Best wishes!
- [[mw:User:Sumanah|Sumana Harihareswara]], Wikimedia Foundation's Volunteer Development Coordinator. Please reply on my talk page, here or [[mw:User talk:Sumanah|at mediawiki.org]].

I know you aren't active here much anymore, but as a fellow admin I am letting you know as a courtesy, that I restored the [[Infodemiology]] article you deleted way back in 2006 in response to a request at [[WP:REFUND]]. The subject appears to be notable enough now, and I think Wikipedia's speedy deletion rules have evolved so that the article in its original state would no longer qualify for deletion under [[WP:CSD#A7]]. ~[[User:Amatulic|Amatulić]] <small>([[User talk:Amatulic#top|talk]])</small> 18:31, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

== Extended confirmed protection ==
{{ivmbox|1=Hello, Chairboy. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
[[WP:BLUELOCK|Extended confirmed protection]] (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned [[WP:EXTENDEDCONFIRMED|"extended confirmed" user right]] was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following [[Wikipedia:Village pump (proposals)/Archive 129#New usergroup with autopromotion to implement arbitration "30-500" bans as a page protection|this community discussion]] with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, [[WP:ECP2016|a request for comment]] established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
* '''Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective'''. It should not be used as a first resort.
* '''A bot will post a notification at [[Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard]] of each use'''. MusikBot currently does this by updating [[User:MusikBot/ECPMonitor/Report|a report]], which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review [[Wikipedia:Protection policy#Extended confirmed protection|the protection policy]] carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. == Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins ==
Hello,
Please note that [[Time-based One-time Password Algorithm|TOTP]] based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your [[Special:Preferences|preferences page]] in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the [[Help:Two-factor authentication|developing help page]] for additional information. '''Important''': Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the [[Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard#Two-Factor_Authentication_now_available_for_admins|thread on the administrators' noticeboard]]. == A new user right for New Page Patrollers ==
Hi {{BASEPAGENAME}}.
A new user group, [[Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Reviewers|'''New Page Reviewer''']], has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at [[Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/New page reviewer|PERM]]. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available [[Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Templates|here]] but very often a friendly custom message works best.
If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at [[WT:NPR]]. <small>''(Sent to all admins)''</small>.[[User:MediaWiki message delivery|MediaWiki message delivery]] ([[User talk:MediaWiki message delivery|talk]]) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

== Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular) ==
ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.
Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are [[Wikipedia:Administrators#Security|required]] to "have strong passwords and [[Wikipedia:Personal security practices|follow appropriate personal security practices]]." We have [[Special:Permalink/891851004#Return of permissions for compromised administrator accounts|updated]] our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, [[WP:2FA|two-factor authentication]] remains an ''optional'' means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.
We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

== Pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity ==
[[File:Information.svg|25px|alt=Information icon]]
Established [[Wikipedia:Administrators#Procedural removal for inactive administrators|policy]] provides for removal of the administrative permissions of users who have not made any edits or logged actions in the preceding twelve months. Because you have been inactive, your administrative permissions will be removed if you do not return to activity within the next month.
Inactive administrators are encouraged to rejoin the project in earnest rather than to make token edits to avoid loss of administrative permissions. Resources and support for reengaging with the project are available at [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Editor Retention/administrators]]. If you do not intend to rejoin the project in the foreseeable future, please consider voluntarily resigning your administrative permissions by making a request at [[WP:BN|the bureaucrats' noticeboard]].
Thank you for your past contributions to the project. <!-- Template:Inactive admin -->— [[User:JJMC89 bot|JJMC89 '''bot''']] 00:02, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
== Custom signature fix needed ==
Hi there! You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A [[mw:New requirements for user signatures|change to Wikipedia's software]] has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.
'''The problem:''' Your signature contains a syntax error, specifically formatting tags that are in the wrong order.
'''The solutions:''' You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.
:'''Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:'''
:# [[Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-personal-signature|Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences]].
:# Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "'''Treat the above as wiki markup.'''"
:# Remove anything in the {{int:yournick}} text box.
:# Click the blue "{{int:Saveprefs}}" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "{{int:Restoreprefs}}" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
:'''Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:'''
:# [[Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-personal-signature|Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences]].
:# Change the signature as shown below, or make other edits to make the signature appear how you want it to appear.
:# Click Save to update to your newly fixed signature.
Current signature:<br/>
<code><nowiki>[[User:Chairboy|C<small>HAIRBOY]]</small> ([[User_talk:Chairboy|☎]])</nowiki></code>
Fixed signature:<br/>
<code><nowiki>[[User:Chairboy|C<small>HAIRBOY</small>]] ([[User_talk:Chairboy|☎]])</nowiki></code>
More information is available at [[Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature]]. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at [[Wikipedia talk:Signatures]]. == How we will see unregistered users ==
<section begin=content/>
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin '''will still be able to access the IP'''. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on [[m:IP Editing: Privacy Enhancement and Abuse Mitigation/Improving tools|better tools]] to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can [[m:IP Editing: Privacy Enhancement and Abuse Mitigation|read more on Meta]]. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can [[m:Global message delivery/Targets/Tech ambassadors|subscribe]] to [[m:Tech/News|the weekly technical newsletter]].
We have [[m:IP Editing: Privacy Enhancement and Abuse Mitigation#IP Masking Implementation Approaches (FAQ)|two suggested ways]] this identity could work. '''We would appreciate your feedback''' on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can [[m:Talk:IP Editing: Privacy Enhancement and Abuse Mitigation|let us know on the talk page]]. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you.

{{ivmbox|The administrator policy has been updated with new [[Wikipedia:Administrators#Procedural_removal_for_inactive_administrators|activity requirements]] following a successful [[Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)/Request for comment on administrator activity requirements|Request for Comment]].
Beginning January 1, 2023, administrators who meet one or both of the following criteria may be desysopped for inactivity if they have:
#Made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least a 12-month period OR
#Made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period
Administrators at risk for being desysopped under these criteria will continue to be notified ahead of time. Thank you for your continued work.

::Roger roger! It's a good policy. My life has moved in a different direction and while I tried to get in some more admin activity in the last few months in response to the original notice, I can't seem to get that same old fire going. Maybe in a couple decades I'll be up for the challenge again and will get to find out what the admin request process of the 2040s or something looks like. [[File:Ambox warning yellow.svg|left|link=|alt=Notice|48px|]]
The article [[:Sevylor]] has been [[Wikipedia:Proposed deletion|proposed for deletion]] because of the following concern:
<blockquote>'''Fails [[WP:GNG]]'''</blockquote>
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be [[WP:DEL#REASON|deleted for any of several reasons]].
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your [[Help:edit summary|edit summary]] or on [[Talk:Sevylor|the article's talk page]].
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the [[Wikipedia:Proposed deletion|proposed deletion process]], but other [[Wikipedia:deletion process|deletion process]]es exist. In particular, the [[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion|speedy deletion]] process can result in deletion without discussion, and [[Wikipedia:Articles for deletion|articles for deletion]] allows discussion to reach [[Wikipedia:Consensus|consensus]] for deletion.<!-- Template:Proposed deletion notify --> [[User:Tooncool64|Tooncool64]] ([[User talk:Tooncool64|talk]]) 23:56, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
