'''Operation Amalgam Virgo''' iswas a [http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/ex-northcom.htm[North American CINCNORADAerospace Defence Command]] joint (multi-service) task counter-terrorist and field training exercise (FTX) planned in June 2001 as the cover indicates. The exercises were to be carried out out in Tyndall Air Force Base, planned inFlorida on early AugustJune and2001.<ref>{{cite Septemberweb|author=John 2001Pike |url=http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/ex-northcom.htm |title=Exercises – NORAD / Northern Command |publisher=GlobalSecurity.org |accessdate=2013-04-02}}</ref> [[NORAD]] sponsored the multi-agency planning exercise involving the hypothetical scenario of a [[cruise missile]] or [[UAV]] launched by a terrorist group <ref>Quote: TERRORIST GROUP ACQUIRES CM'S/UAV'S (page 17, pdf file)</ref>. [[Osama Bin Laden]] was pictured on the cover of the proposal for the exercise. Key military players involved in the exercise also included personnel from the 1st Air Force battalion, the U.S. National Guard, the U.S. Reserve forces, and the U.S. Navy.

Several naval ships including the [[{{USS |Yorktown (|CG-48)|USS}}, ''Yorktown'']] and thea Navy Aegis cruiser, were dispatched to the Gulf of Mexico as part of the multi-service anti-cruise missile operationexercise. Military land personnelPersonnel from the 1st Air Force also engaged in gatheringgathered radar information on low-level targets by using the Joint-Based Expeditionary Connectivity Center (JBECC), a deployable mobile shelter capable of being deployed to high-risk regions while providing early warning signals onof cruise missile attacks.

Bin Laden was on the cover despite never flying a plane into anything nor using any drone like type of weapon. This booklet was printed two months before 911. One of the drills involved a hijacked plane being flown into congress. Despite these exercises the Bush Administration said they have never know knowledge of a plane being used as a weapon.
