Il 23 luglio 2012, durante la puntata di ''[[WWE Raw|Raw 1000]]'', [[Dwayne Johnson|The Rock]] ha annunciato che avrebbe sfidato il [[WWE World Championship|WWE Champion]] alla Royal Rumble con il titolo in palio.
