Sony Pictures Television logo
User talk:JJMC89#This bot keeps reverting my edits. I forgot (if I ever knew) how to do the whole "free use rationale" thing. —<span style="color:green;">the</span><span style="color:teal;">Main</span><span style="color:#3366cc;">Logan</span> (t•c) 23:48, 12 July 2025 (UTC)
PNG or JPEG for non-free logos
:File:Las Vegas Legends logo.jpg and :File:Las Vegas Legends (logo).png appear to be the same logo, just uploaded by two different users in different formats. Both files aren't really needed per :WP:NFCC#3, but I'm not sure which of the two should be kept. FWIW, the png file is being used in :Las Vegas Legends while the jpeg is being used in :2012–13 Las Vegas Legends season: the png's use seems OK but the jpeg's use is debatable. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:08, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
WYWH
Please could someone do the necessary on :File:Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here (1975).png, so that it can be used on Ronnie Rondell Jr.? My experience of writing NFC justifications is limited. <span class="vcard"><span class="fn">Andy Mabbett</span> (<span class="nickname">Pigsonthewing</span>); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits</span> 19:53, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
:Since there is an article already dedicated to the album and its cover, a valid fair use rationale for its use on Ronnie Rondell Jr. can not be made, per WP:NFC#UUI #6. --Hammersoft (talk) 21:31, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
::That criterion is explicitly "if the image has its own article". It does not. <span class="vcard"><span class="fn">Andy Mabbett</span> (<span class="nickname">Pigsonthewing</span>); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits</span> 21:44, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
:::The album article is about the image (see here) as well as the content of the album. I'm just telling you how it is. It will never fly to be used elsewhere due to this. Sorry. --Hammersoft (talk) 22:56, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
Expert opinion on image copyright needed
There is a discussion about use of images at Talk:The Beatles#Suggestion. I would appreciate if someone who understands copyright could take a look and express an opinion. Thanks. Sundayclose (talk) 17:34, 24 August 2025 (UTC)
Exemptions clarification
The #Exemptions section contains "Article images may appear in article preview popups." This was a simplification of earlier language which more explicitly allowed "output of automatic, transient, server-generated representations of pages with non-free images". This has come up again in the context of the "Explore" feed on the App (phab:T166092) which is claimed to violate policy despite being consistent with that earlier language ("automatic server-generated representations of pages with non-free images").
Can we clarify the language further, so that after "may appear in article preview popups" we add "and in other preview contexts"? That should cover the Explore feed more explicitly. C. Scott Ananian (he/him) (talk) 16:58, 25 August 2025 (UTC)
