===North Dakota geography stubs===

ND has 53 counties and one -geo- type for the whole state, used on 509 articles. May I create upmerged templates for counties whose -geo- cats contain stubs? [[User:Pegship|Pegship]] ([[User talk:Pegship|talk]]) 19:24, 30 March 2018 (UTC)

:Eventually I'd like to create upmerged county templates for Arizona (1,216 stub articles, 15 counties), Colorado (609 stub articles, 64 counties), Idaho (695 stub articles, 44 counties), Montana (658 stub articles, 56 counties), Nevada (631 stub articles, 17 counties), New Mexico (525 stub articles, 33 counties), Utah (718 stub articles, 29 counties), and Wyoming (493 stub articles, 23 counties). ===New York mountain and hill stubs===

Add [[Template:NewYork-mountain-stub]], have it add pages using that template to [[:Category:New York mountain and hill stubs]], which would be a subcategory to [[:Category:New York (state) geography stubs]]. Category:New York (state) geography stubs currently contains 153 pages of various geography-related subjects, so I think it would be nice to separate articles that are hills or mountains. Presumably not: so can we start with a general {{tlx|mountain-stub}} and only go to a more local level when we need to? *:At the time, the standard practice was to subdivide geographic areas by administrative regions (counties, provinces, etc.). The reasoning was that one could place stub articles about mountains into their ___location's -geo- stub category. River stubs make sense as rivers frequently cross administrative boundaries, and though I can see the previous logic in not creating mountain stub types, I don't have a problem with giving it a try.
