Fairbank was crowned [[Miss Hawaii USA]] by outgoing queen Justine Michioka, in May 2004. This was the first time that Fairbank had competed for the [[Miss USA]] state title, but she had placed first runner-up to [[Miss Hawaii]] ([[Miss America|America]]) the following year. She won both the interview and swimsuit awards in the [[Miss Hawaii USA]] pageant.

Fairbank graduated from [[Punahou School]] in 1997, then received a Bachelors of Psychology and Business Administration at [[Loyola Marymount University]]. She then attended [[Hawaii Pacific University]] where she will graduate with a Masters of Communication degree. Fairbank is a member of [[Psi Chi]], the Psychology National Honor Society.
