"General Secretary (1922-52)"
Position of General Secretary was abolished in 1934 and he continued on as a "First Secretary of the CC of the AUCP(b)" 5.151.189.241 (talk) 13:05, 11 March 2025 (UTC)
:Correction: the AUCP(b) didn't have a superior rank in the secretariat after 1934 until Stalin's death. 5.151.189.241 (talk) 20:06, 11 March 2025 (UTC)
:As our article on the position states, the post was not formally abolished in 1934, but rather Stalin was not re-elected to it. This was purely a cosmetic change, since Stalin still had absolute control of the party and was deeply involved in running it day-to-day. It was only in the 1950s when he began to increasingly withdraw from Secretariat business before the position's formal abolition in 1952. Presenting it in any other way, especially in the lead, would simply be confusing and misleading to the reader. — Goszei (talk) 22:35, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
::The Russian article on Wikipedia correctly notes that there was no superior position in the secretariat from 1934 onwards, even though Stalin was the clear favourite. This article is a gross oversimplification of his actual positions and thus inaccurate. The term "paramount leader" would be more fitting, like with Chinese de-facto leader Deng Xiaoping. :::Russian Wikipedia as is any other Wikipedia is not a reliable source. Do you have any source claiming Stalin was a paramount leader or is this just your original research/personal statement? The last paragraph in the lede was changed without explanation by a Sockpuppet. See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Sotavino. On June 18, sockpuppet Zonecom made major changes to the lede especially the final sentences: , . A few months earlier another sock of theirs on multiple occasions made the same edit: , , . I think Zonecom's changes should be reverted as is standard procedure and also because they watered down controversial aspects of Stalin and made it less neutral including deleting that Stalin was responsible for the deaths of millions of Soviet citizens from the end of the lede. ::User:Yue, they came back and restored their sock edits. The account is Mapusova which is blatantly their sock. The article currently reads: 'In February 1943, the German forces attacking Stalingrad surrendered'.
This is badly worded, the mostly German troops who surrendered in February 1943 weren't attacking Stalingrad, they were trapped in a pocket and were being attacked.
I propose changing the wording to something like: 'In February 1943 the surrounded German forces in Stalingrad surrendered.' 146.198.151.77 (talk) 20:10, 12 August 2025 (UTC)

Position of General Secretary
*Duplicate thread since last one died
Stalin was not re-elected to the position of General Secretary after 1934. He very much stayed the de facto leader mind you, but claiming that he occupied this role is simply inaccurate and a rather daunting oversight for an article of this importance level. I generally recommend consulting the Russian language page on the matter, where you will find sources as well:

JumpmanMario2K6 On 2025-08-23T11:20:17 you added :Category:Anti-Italian sentiment to this article.
Why did you do that?
In a brief search in this article, I did not see anything to support that.

Lede sockpuppetry again
A sockpuppet made major and unexplained changes to the last paragraph of the lede yet again. See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Sotavino. On August 23, their latest banned sockpuppet Mapusova made the same edits as their previous socks:
Would it be possible for someone to revert these changes? They should be reverted again as is standard practice for sock edits. This is the third sock they have created in recent months to make these lede changes specifically about famine and his legacy where they are minimizing controversial actions of Stalin and making it less neutral. They once again deleted mention of Stalin's responsibility for the deaths of millions of Soviets from the end of the lede.
I previously opened a thread on talk on July 29 the last time this sock did this and the sock edits were promptly reverted by User:Yue.
