Wikiproject Military history coordinator election nominations open
Downtown (song)
Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election are now open. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting doesn't commence until 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the coord team. == The Bugle: Issue Issue CLXXIII, September 2020 ==
So sorry to bother you (again) with this ridiculous situation, but I fear your help is needed again on the Downtown (song) article. SFTVLGUY2 has consistantly removed additions made to the article - and has not followed the emerging consensus on the discussion page to follow the Angels (song) model. He has removed additions made by other users - notabley Hotwiki - that follow that consensus, and instead claims the higher ground when he so clearly is not taking others into consideration.

{| style="width: 100%;"
The situation is beyond a joke - and I would appreciate your help in settling this article once and for all, please. Rimmers 23:29, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Milhist coordinator election voting has commenced
:Hi; SFTVLGUY2 yet again completely gone against the consensus created on the article; he has removed all edits I made to the article last night, including removing references/sources, links to relevant articles and removing any and all other additions - despite you saying there should be a no revert rule. I would like to request that SFTVLGUY2 face disciplinary action. Given you have stated there shouldnt be an edit war, I have refrained from removed his most recent changes - so I would like to ask that you revert his changes (back to version by "88.157.57.131" at 14:21, 1 December 2006), merge the article back into one and perhaps even lock the article to prevent further abuse. To say this is ridiculous is a understatement, but SFTVLGUY2's abuse and sheer disregard for the consesus emerging on the talk page (including disregarding your comments) leave me with no other options... I certainly didn't intend my move to be "disruptive." More than one person suggested a separate article and I felt this was a viable solution, given this issue never will be resolved satisfactorily for all who have engaged in the discussion. Had I named the article Petula Clark's Downtown when I first wrote it, this problem never would have arisen at all. If you check my long history and the numerous articles I've created, I think you'll agree my intent is to improve Wikipedia in a number of areas, unlike the Spice Girls posse, whose sole interest seems to be in promoting Emma Bunton. The Downtown article has become ridiculously long and cluttered, particularly with Rimmer's changes to the first sections devoted to the original recording. He seems intent on using as many superfluous charts as possible (I've never seen an article with as many as this one has - if we need "chart trajectories" for the UK and Germany, then why not one for every country where it charted?), and rearranging sections out of sensible sequence (for example, the subhead re: popular culture references should come immediately after the info re: Clark, since it's her version that has been referenced.) And I still maintain a Bunton template has no place in this article; it belongs only in the one specifically about her. If Clark had a template, I would feel the same way. Thanks. I'm not sure why you re-protected the List of Arab scientists and scholars article so quickly. Dear Martin, since its creation, the article has been based upon this disclaimer:
{|
This is a list of scientists and scholars associated with the Arab World and Islamic Spain (Al-Andalus) that lived from antiquity up until the beginning of the modern age. In some cases, their exact ancestry in unclear. They may have emigrated or immigrated, and thus may appear in other "Lists of...", but nevertheless their names and work are linked to the words "Arab", and "Arabic".
|
Which was suggested by admin User:Alex Bakharev, and is the same as List of Iranian scientists and List_of_Russians#Scientists. The Iranians were against this list since the beginning. They wanted a list of muslims, while of course having the privilage to keep list of iranian scientist, but then we have a consenus to keep it like this(see the discussion). Now they are back, again! Your help as a neutral observer is highly appreciated (BTW, Khoikhoi is not! see his arbitration )

Voting for "Military Historian of the Year" and "Military history newcomer of the year" closing
:Thanks :-) As you note, the debate was very long, and I wanted to close it in a way which would make it easy for any onlookers to see a rough summary of the viewpoints raised. Could you explain to me how that subst works? How does it accomplish what you said it did in your post on Template talk:Firstarticle? I'm trying to understand this. Is it one of those namespace issues (that I know a tiny tiny bit about)? Thanks! Sincerely, Mattisse(talk) 18:00, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
:Thank you for your response and the page link. I think I understand. Also, I looked up the word you used Transclusion which helped too. Now those letters subst make sense. And I now I understand why it would be harder to vandalize and also why it would be easier on the server. Plus I see how I could be making my life easier by using templates so knowing about that list is really helpful. Thank you very much. Sincerely, Mattisse(talk) 20:15, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Cleaning up Special:WantedTemplates
Hi Martin, Thank you for your feed-back. 192.203.40.2

Hi, due to quirks in the way that Wikipedia parses javascript pages, curly braces are parsed as templates, unless they are inside of nowiki, pre, syntaxhighlight ... As a result of this, your script page, User:MDP23/monobook.js, is generating links in Special:WantedTemplates (in particular links to Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:PermissionOTRS\). Recently, an interface editor attempted to fix this by adding nowiki at the top and nowiki at the bottom of your script page. This didn't work because you already have nowiki on that page. It would be great if you could add syntaxhighlight tags (you don't have these) at the top and bottom of your page like this which will prevent your page from generating links in Special:WantedTemplates. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 18:48, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

Hey y'all, the April 2021 WikiProject Military History Reviewing Drive begins at 00:01 UTC on April 1, 2021 and runs through 23:59 UTC on April 31, 2021. Points can be earned through reviewing articles on the AutoCheck report, reviewing articles listed at WP:MILHIST/ASSESS, reviewing MILHIST-tagged articles at WP:GAN or WP:FAC, and reviewing articles submitted at WP:MILHIST/ACR. Service awards and barnstars are given for set points thresholds, and the top three finishers will receive further awards. To participate, sign up at 2021 Reviewing Drive#Participants and create a worklist at Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/April 2021 Reviewing Drive/Worklists (examples are given). Further details can be found at the drive page. Questions can be asked at the drive talk page. Thanks, user:Martinp23! This is very helpful! When does the following exception become relevant: However, Jimbo Wales has suggested semi-protection may be used in cases of "minor bios of slightly well known but controversial individuals" which are not widely watchlisted, if they are "subject to POV pushing, trolling [or] vandalism." In such cases, semi-protection "would at least eliminate the drive-by nonsense that we see so often."[1]?

I was requesting the page to be deleted, not to be saved. I was placing the delete tag upon the page. If you would have checked the page's history before it was deleted, you would have known that. :Hi, I <b>do not</b> use a program to place "speedy delete" tags upon pages which need to be deleted. Also, it was about 60 seconds after I placed the tag on the page, and you deleted the page. Maybe my browser runs slower than yours. However, please take into consideration about those factors. Next, time use your mind to determine whether or not a user needs to be "warned" about creating an insufficient page, rather than the person doing the same thing as you are, and wanting to speedy delete the page. You left a note at the talk page for WP:RCP about a new NP patrol tool. I'm interested in trying it out if you're still looking for beta testers.--Kchase T 08:26, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
:OK, I'm approving you now - thanks for your interest - I'm going to do what I hope will be a near fional release in about an hour, in which I'll have everything that I've envisioned it needing, and then for the rest of the releases until I'm happy with it, I'll be bug fixing and getting the gui looking better :). :::OK - the problem was that you were on the approval list as "Kchase02", but you logged in a "kchase02" - it's a minor annoyance whicjh I'll be fixing soon (one of the bugs mentioned above) but as a workaround, I've added both possibilities to the list. If it still doesn't work, could you confirm what the error message is saying (version not approve,d or user not approved)? "it is now known that a round dance is simply a waggle dance with a very short waggle run"

{| style="width: 100%;"
There are no references nor any supporting documentation for this blanket generalization. "It is now known" -- when? and by whom? I am not saying that it is not true, it is. The information is very new and may require the entomology textbooks to be rewritten. I am just wondering who posted this and what their sources are.

The Bugle: Issue CLXXVIII, April 2022
Hi Martin, when you remove the last old discussions left in WP:TFD, could you please not add instead a line saying "No old discussions" ? This has a tendency to confuse User:Zorglbot which does the automatic update of this pages, and complains about seeing parasite lines. Of course, I could also teach him to recognise this line and remove it when new pages are added, but this would require editors to always use the exact same text, which is probably a bit too much to add. Thanks, Schutz 00:05, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of :Syro-Malabar Catholic Church of London
Here's what happened:

#Someone vandalized (same diff)
#I reverted to a previous version using popups (same diff)
#That version was blanked, by the same user (same diff)
#I reverted myself to the last good edit ( diff)
#Your bot reverted back to #1 (diff)

The article :Syro-Malabar Catholic Church of London has been proposed for deletion&#32;because of the following concern:
I just wanted to ask if I could remove the warning on my talk page, since it was only a mistake, which I quickly changed. Or is that not allowed? | <font face="Papyrus" color="Black">A</font><font face="Papyrus" color="DarkSlateGray">ndonic</font><font face="Papyrus" color="Black" size="2">O</font> <small><font face="Times New Roman" color="Tan">Talk</font> | <font face="Times New Roman" color="Tan">Sign Here</font></small> 23:16, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
<blockquote>WP:TNT. As far as I could verify online, there is no such church in Arnos Grove anymore. A promo-code company has bought up the website in external links. This article was written in 2006; we are more likely to find good sources on extant Syro-Malabar churches in London without trying to recover references to this article.</blockquote>

undeserved revert by bot - please fix!
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the proposed deletion/dated notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
I just edited the Morrison & Foerster LLP article to revert an awkward euphemism to the original, correct "motherfucker" - that's what MoFo (the firm's nickname) does stand for. My edit was reverted by Martinbot--can you fix this and restore the uncensored language? Thanks, 140.247.243.220 04:13, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing proposed deletion/dated will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.<!-- Template:Proposed deletion notify --> IgnatiusofLondon (talk) 20:50, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
