He signed with the latter's parent label, G-Unit Records, an imprint of Interscope Records to release his debut studio album Straight Outta Cashville (2004) and its follow-up Buck the World (2007), both of which peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 and were met with critical praise.
Young Buck (born David Darnell Brown) was born March 15, 1981. He refers to his style as "Dirty South rap," as he is from Nashville, Tennessee. Despite his non-commercial image, he has had large success in sales.

Initially launched in 2005 as "G-Unit South", Brown's record label, Cashville Records, has released his subsequent projects following personal disputes with 50 Cent and his 2010 departure from G-Unit Records. Cashville has also signed hip hop acts including The Outlawz and C-Bo.

Early Yearslife
Brown was born in Nashville, Tennessee and grew up in North Nashville. Around the age of 12, he began rapping. A few years later, he performed for Brian "Baby" Williams, co-founder of Cash Money.
Young Buck began rapping at the age of 12 with street members including Erik Jacobson, a street friend and was in a studio two years later. He also began selling drugs at age 13. Older hustlers would refer to him as a "young buck," (slang for a rookie), and the name stuck. When Buck was 16, he got a chance to perform for the Cash Money Records CEO, Brian “Baby” Williams. Young Buck engaged in rap battles against younger members of the label, including future rapper Lil' Wayne and Adry Oakley aka Young Pharoah. Williams was so impressed with Buck that he offered him a contract with Cash Money Records. Buck accepted the offer and dropped out of school at the age of 16 and relocated to New Orleans. He met many Cash Money artists while there. He met BG, Juvenile, Mannie Fresh, Lil Wayne, Baby, & Turk. He would remain helping build up the group for the next four years, until he decided to return home.

Career
Around this time, Buck partnered with rapper D-Tay signed to Next Level Records, releasing Thuggin' Til The End. Young Buck became unhappy with his record deal, breaking it off and joining ex-Cash Money Records rapper Juvenile and his UTP label. Buck began to tour with them and while on a business trip to New York City, he met Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, and 50 Cent. Shortly thereafter, Buck was signed to G-Unit Records by 50 Cent. His first major appearance was on 50 Cent's multi-platinum record Get Rich or Die Tryin on the track "Blood Hound". It should be noted that Young Buck had not yet switched labels when the song was recorded, as UTP is mentioned several times.
Young Buck began his affiliation with Cash Money in 1997 but left for Juvenile's UTP in 2000. He released two albums with UTP, Born to Be a Thug and The Compilation, before leaving the label in 2003 to join 50 Cent's record label G-Unit.

His first recording with G-Unit Records was on the 2002 recorded song Blood Hound for 50 Cent's February 2003 debut studio album Get Rich or Die Tryin'. That same year, Young Buck became a member of G-Unit. He also appeared heavily on rap group G-Unit's 2003 album Beg for Mercy. He replaced G-Unit member Tony Yayo who had been jailed on gun possession charges after recording only two songs for the album.
G-Unit
His first solo album Straight Outta Cashville, an allusion to the famous N.W.A. album Straight Outta Compton, was released on August 24, 2004. It debuted at #3 on the Billboard charts and featured artists 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, Lil' Flip, The Game, Stat Quo, D-Tay & Ludacris. The album would eventually go platinum, selling over 2 million records worldwide.

His G-Unit Records debut album Straight Outta Cashville was released on August 24, 2004. The album's title alludes to the N.W.A album Straight Outta Compton and is a neologism for Nashville (his hometown). The album produced three singles: "Let Me In", "Shorty Wanna Ride", and "Look at Me Now". The album received little promotion after November. Young Buck was arrested for assault after the VIBE award incident and wasn't able to promote the album for four months until the case was dropped. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 and has since been certified Platinum by the RIAA. His second solo album Buck The World followed in 2007.
Young Buck was robbed for his chain in Chicago at a concert in 2004 only to have it never returned to him. Also on November 16, 2004, Santa Monica police released a warrant for Buck's arrest in relation to a stabbing incident at the 2004 Vibe Awards. Dr. Dre was assaulted by Jimmy James Johnson, and Buck jumped in to support Dre. Videos showed Buck lunging at Johnson with what appeared to be a knife in his hand. Buck was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. He surrendered to police on November 20. It was believed that he had stabbed Jimmy James with a knife, but DNA evidence and photographs showed that the knife did not belong to the G-Unit rapper. The weapon that Young Buck brandished was actually a fork. The charge of assault with a deadly weapon was dropped. The verdict was reached on December 12, 2005 and Buck will now only face three years of probation and eighty hours of community service instead of up to eight years in prison.
His sophomore album, set to be released in 2007, is called Buck the World. He was interviewed after his court meeting and stated that his sophomore album will not be titled Buck all Y'all or Bad Influence, as was previously thought. Young Buck is considered by some to be the most well-rounded rapper in G-Unit, to where some people consider him to be similar to Tupac, in his in your face style, flow, and lyrical style.

He joined the rest of the label's roster on the 2005 collaboration album Get Rich or Die Tryin.
The Game
The feud with The Game was when 50 Cent dissed The Game on the radio station Hot 97 and exiling him from G-Unit stating that The Game wasn't loyal to G-Unit for saying he would work with 50 Cent's rivals Nas and Jadakiss. Young Buck diss The Game on a diss track called 'Holla My Name' where The Game didn't responded to the track. Also with G-Unit's new crip member Spider Loc made serveral tracks towards The Game such as 'Where Im From' and 'I don't want no problems'. The Game diss Young Buck on a new diss track called SoundScan it's usually towards Lloyd Banks and his new album Rotten Apple

In April 2008 he was expelled from the rap group G Unit, remaining with G Unit Records as a solo artist. 50 Cent faulted him for making provocative public statements he would later retract in private, for missing recording sessions, and for drug abuse. Young Buck released a "diss" track insulting 50 Cent and G Unit, 50 Cent responded by releasing a taped phone call in which an emotional Buck was heard crying and asking 50 Cent for help and advice, Buck replied with another "diss" track.
Young Buck beat up Dj Will from Hot 107.9, a radio station in Atlanta for playing rival rapper The Games hit single It's Okay (One Blood) whilst Buck was at the venue.Buck is now banned from being played on the station. Buck announced he had some business to handle with the Dj. DJ organisation "Core DJs" is planning to hold a telephone conference where they will discuss Buck's actions and other instances of Rapper-DJ violence, which could possibly lead to a widepsread banning of Young Buck's music.

In October he wished to leave G Unit Records but still owed the label two albums and his third album The Rehab was still unreleased. In 2009 he said he still owed one album, The Rehab was released independently in 2010.

In December 2011 he was still under contract to G-Unit Records and about to lose his assets including his stage name in bankruptcy court, having been unable to record since 2008. He claimed he was close to signing with Cash Money; The Tennessean confirmed a proposed deal that would release him from his G-Unit contract and leave him signed to Cash Money. Cash Money Records CEO Birdman though denied that any deal was in the works.
Young Buck also has beef with New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne, who starred on Game's "One Blood" remix.

In August 2012, Buck stated in an interview with XXL he was no longer signed to G-Unit Records and he would be a free agent when he is released from prison.

Style
Buck represents the southern style of rap music, and he uses constant slang in order to prove his authenticity. He points this out in the G-Unit song "Betta Ask Somebody" when he says "I'ma country boi, you can hear it when I speak". He collaborated with his fellow G-Unit, Mobb Deep, Kon Artis, as well as Dirty South rappers: Stat Quo, David Banner, Lil' Flip, Ludacris, Trick Daddy, Young Jeezy, Young Bloodz, Juvenile, Young Dro, T.I., Three 6 Mafia, 8 Ball & MJG, J-Kwon, Lil' Jon. He stated that the seizure of property that belonged to his children had "created great stress in the home" and "within the common law marriage of the debtor plaintiff." He told the court he needed to get back the property belonging to the family.

Young Buck's attorney was able to convince the court that he would be selling real estate worth $638,500 to begin paying the back taxes due. At a hearing on October 26, 2010, plans for the IRS auction were at least temporarily stopped. Young Buck announced the outcome with a tweet.

Drive-by shooting
Early Sunday morning on March 4, 2012, Young Buck was targeted in a drive-by shooting. According to Nashville police, via WSMV-TV Channel 4, at approximately 3:30 am, a white Chevrolet Tahoe crept past the rapper's SUV and opened fire, hitting the vehicle 11 times, including a female passenger. Buck, who was back in his hometown to work on new music, was not injured.

Legal issues
After an IRS raid on Buck's Nashville home in 2010, authorities found a .40 caliber Glock 22 as well as ammunition. The raid followed reports that the rapper had an outstanding $300,000 tax debt, and because he's a convicted felon, Buck is prohibited from possessing any firearms. Back in 2005, he pleaded no contest to assault with a chance to produce bodily injury after he stabbed a man while trying to defend Dr. Dre at the 2004 Vibe Awards.

On July 13, 2012, Buck was sentenced to 18 months in prison on weapon charges, a sentence that he began on August 6, 2012. Until then, Buck had remained at his Nashville home on house arrest with a monitoring bracelet strapped around his ankle. He served his 18 months in Yazoo City Low Security Federal Prison in Southern Mississippi and was released on October 1, 2013.

VIBE Awards stabbing
On November 15, 2004, Jimmy James Johnson approached Dr. Dre at the VIBE Awards and reportedly asked for an autograph before Dr. Dre was about to go on stage. After Dr. Dre declined, Johnson punched him on the back of the head before running towards the nearest exit. A brawl ensued with several uniformed police officers attempting to break up the fight. Chairs were thrown, and it was alleged that Young Buck stabbed Johnson in the chest with a knife.

After being dismissed from G-Unit, Young Buck appeared on a remix to The Game's song "Game's Pain", as well as appearing in the music video to the song "My Life", which featured another former rival, Lil Wayne.<ref name="mylife">DJ Skee (August 1, 2008) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCFtFySNqAA The Game ft.
