==Controversy==
In light of the global [[Black Lives Matter]] and anti-racism movement, the university was panned for the erection of a billboard depicting its founder, Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing, as the "King of Africa".<ref name=":0">{{Cite web|date=2020-06-20|title='King of Africa' billboard sparks racism claims at Malaysian university|url=https://www.scmp.com/week-asia/lifestyle-culture/article/3089808/king-africa-billboard-sparks-racism-claims-university|access-date=2020-06-27|website=South China Morning Post|language=en}}</ref><ref name=":1">{{Cite web|last=Noor|first=Sabrina|date=2020-06-21|title=How did Lim Kok Wing go from helping Mandela to having a racist billboard in his uni?|url=https://cilisos.my/how-did-lim-kok-wing-go-from-helping-mandela-to-having-a-racist-billboard-in-his-uni/|access-date=2020-06-29|website=CILISOS - Current Issues Tambah Pedas!|language=en-US}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web|date=2020-06-12|title=Angry netizens petition to remove billboard portraying Lim Kok Wing as 'King of Africa'|url=https://www.asiaone.com/malaysia/angry-netizens-petition-remove-billboard-portraying-lim-kok-wing-king-africa|access-date=2020-06-29|website=AsiaOne|language=en}}</ref> The billboard generated controversy as former students and staff at the university accused the university of having racist policies, such as not allowing African students to be ambassadors at open days and alleging that school administrators had made racist remarks on several occasions.<ref name=":0" /> The controversial billboard was taken down and the university apologised, saying that it "did not condone any discriminatory acts against any particular race".<ref name=":0" /><ref name=":1" /> Contrary to allegations, the Ministry of Higher Education has not found strong evidence pointing to racism by senior management of the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT).<ref>{{Cite web |last=CHIN |first=EMMANUEL SANTA MARIA |date=2020-12-14 |title=Racism at Lim Kok Wing varsity? The institution was accused of issuing fake certificates and failing to meet legitimacy standards in Lesotho.<ref name="sundayexpress.co.ls"/><ref>{{Cite web|date=2012-08-18|title=Limkokwing kept cops in the dark about fake certificates|url=https://sundayexpress.co.ls/limkokwing-kept-cops-in-the-dark-about-fake-certificates/|access-date=2020-07-12|website=Sunday Express|language=en-US}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web|date=2013-08-31|title=Limkokwing official 'lied'|url=https://sundayexpress.co.ls/limkokwing-official-lied/|access-date=2020-07-12|website=Sunday Express|language=en-US}}</ref> It was followed by police investigation and court cases that showed cases of fraud.<ref name="sundayexpress.co.ls">{{Cite web|date=2012-07-14|title=Police investigate Limkokwing students over fake certificates|url=https://sundayexpress.co.ls/police-investigate-limkokwing-students-over-fake-certificates/|access-date=2020-07-12|website=Sunday Express|language=en-US}}</ref> However, the Minister of Education and Training Lesotho stated that Limkokwing Lesotho is a legal and legitimate entity recognised by the Lesotho government, and graduates of the university are as well recognised.<ref>{{Cite web|date=2013-09-14|title=Limkokwing is a legitimate university|url=https://sundayexpress.co.ls/limkokwing-is-a-legitimate-university/|access-date=2020-07-12|website=Sunday Express|language=en-US}}</ref>
Earlier, an official statement was released by the Minister of Information of Sierra Leone, Mohammad Rahman Swarray, to address the government's position on Limkokwing University. Sierra Leone's ACC closed investigations of alleged corruption between Limkokwing University Sierra Leone with the previous Sierra Leonean Government.<ref>{{Cite web|date=2020-08-06|title=ACC concludes investigation into alleged corruption of Minkailu Bah and Limkokwing University|url= https://www.thesierraleonetelegraph.com/acc-concludes-investigation-into-alleged-corruption-of-minkailu-bah-and-limkokwing-university/|access-date=2021-01-16|website=Sierra Leone Telegraph|language=en-US}}</ref>
It was said that the university failed to honour the agreement made by the Government of Sierra Leone and the institution regarding scholarships, fee payment, hiring of 80% local staff, and the training of 200 public servants each year{{Unreliable source?|date=November 2020}}. The Minister of Information stated, "the government has reached the decision, that we'll no longer be blackmailed". Later on, Sierra Leone’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has confirmed that it is the country's former education science and technology minister, Minkailu Bah, who had enabled the campus to be set up without following due processes.<ref>{{cite web |url=https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/537895|title=Sierra Leone anti-graft body ends probe involving Limkokwing University |date=8 August 2020 }}</ref> In addition, cases of unjust work ethics, under-qualified lecturers, falsification of academic transcripts, inequality in pay and underpay raised concerns in Botswana where the Malaysian university has a campus. Limkokwing University Botswana reached an agreement with Botswana's Allied Workers Union and salaries and wages of employees were adjusted accordingly.<ref>{{Cite web|last1=editor|first1=Online|title=Limkokwing University mysteries raise eyebrows – Sunday Standard|date=12 April 2009 |url=https://www.sundaystandard.info/limkokwing-university-mysteries-raise-eyebrows/|access-date=2020-07-12|language=en-GB}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web|last1=editor|first1=Online|title=Limkokwing University reaches agreement with union – Sunday Standard|date=25 August 2013 |url=https://www.sundaystandard.info/limkokwing-university-reaches-agreement-with-union/|access-date=2020-07-12|language=en-GB}}</ref>
