It would help if you'd actually add a summary of your reasons for proposing the merger, rather than just saying "discuss here", but that said I entirely get the issue: essentially the "Soapy Awards" ''became'' the "Soap Opera Digest Awards". And while there can sometimes be situations where separate articles are genuinely warranted when one thing becomes another, this isn't one of them — neither article is particularly long or well-sourced as it is, so there's no pressing need for two separate articles treating them as separate topics.
