Hello,

I'm really not impressed with the primary photo for the [[Ramanujan]] article. It is currently a bilinear upscale of a really compressed scan with some attempts at color correction.

I have contacted some people via email that may be able to locate the source of the image, which could hopefully provide us with a better scan. In the meantime, does anyone want to take a crack at fixing it (within reason, of course)? I pulled the original upload, tweaked the color curve and did a very mild selective Gaussian blur in GIMP to at least reduce the really bad artifacts (noticeable around the subject's left eye).

Personally I'm more of a fan of the other picture available on commons [[:File:Srinivasa Ramanujan - OPC - 2.jpg]]. It's a tighter shot, so has more detail, and I think we can clean it up quite nicely, at least enough to be used as a portrait picture for the infobox.
