===Urea===

Urea is a chemical waste product of protein metabolism that travels from your liver to the kidney via blood, and is useful for disposing nitrogen from the human body. A compromised liver can affect urea synthesis, a metabolic liver function. Low urea levels are very rare and can be seen in people with liver disease. These levels also drop during normal pregnancy.

Elevated urea may indicate acute or chronic kidney disease, urinary tract obstruction, congestive heart failure, recent myocardial Infarction or gastrointestinal bleeding.{{cn|date=November 2021}}
