A spectrogram is usually depicted as a [[heat map]], i.e., as an image with the intensity shown by varying the [[colour]] or [[brightness]]. However, there are spectrograms in which multiple information are displayed as different colors, i.e., the phase information are represented as hue in addition to magnitude represented as luminescence of the [[HSL and HSV|HSL/HSV]] image, or the different colors for each channels are superimposed into a single spectrogram image.{{cn|date=February 2023}}
