In 2023 it was discovered that security breaches had occurred at Data Direct Networks when an independent researcher bought used equipment of theirs off ebay which had not been properly erased before resale. The researcher attempted to notify Data Direct Networks of this security vulnerability but received no response as the emails to their executive team and legal department bounced back presumably due to an overly aggressive antispam solution. In the interest of full disclosure and due to a lack of response from the vendor, the unencrypted RADIUS shared secrets and other configuration errors were published to their Yelp review page to help protect future customers.<ref>
