I noticed that there is no section in this article for disputes. While it does mention up front that many but not all Sunni Muslims celebrate this day, I think the article would be enriched on expanding the pros and cons people see from different perspectives (i.e., for or against). An individual on Wikipedia has constantly attempted to remove Mawlid.ca as an external link from Wikipedia's "Mawlid" page, and states the following:
"User talk:Wikireadia14
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
Thank you for taking the time to edit the article on Wikipedia about the Mawlid. However, the link you reverted and replaced is spam and the link is usually down anyway as it is right now. Please do not continue to revert it as it fails to meet many of the criteria of Wikipedia's policy of links including:
* The policy states, "Is it accessible to the reader?" Answer: No it is usually down.
* The policy states, "Is it proper in the context of the article (useful, tasteful, informative, factual, etc.)?" Answer: No, the link has little original content or content relevant to the article.
* Also that site when working meets the criteria established in the Wikipedia policy on links, "Links mainly intended to promote a website."
* Even the description you included about that link does not meet this criteria established in the policy, "Sites that are only indirectly related to the article's subject: the link should be directly related to the subject of the article."
For more information see the policy[1].ZaydHammoudeh 00:48, 23 March 2007 (UTC)"
The aforementioned statements by Mr. Hammoudeh are completely unfair and biased. Such outstanding attempts to challenge the integrity of Mawlid.ca are absolutely unfounded.
In my attempts to contact Mr. Hammoudeh by e-mail, he has either not confirmed his e-mail address on Wikipedia, or has disabled his option to receive e-mails from others. This article was not created by Mr. Hammoudeh, and as such is open for the integration of information from across the world, and is completely up to the standards and policies of Wikipedia with the inclusion of Mawlid.ca as an external link.
- Mawlid.ca is regularly accessible to readers and has a 99.9% up-time
- It's context is in complete accordance with the topic at hand, which is mawlid un-nabawi and provides numerous articles available, in a clear and concise manner in the English langauge
- The link to mawlid.ca are intended to provide education and factual information to the public at large on the event of celebrating the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saws), including updates to local events and other important dates.
- The claims against Mawlid.ca, supposedly being in violation of Wikipedia's policy of links is baseless and we will continue to make it available for public viewing.
- A simple search of Mawlid in various search engines will show Mawlid.ca as being one of the top links available for information on the birth of the Prophet and his life and character as a whole.
- I suggest that you please not try to use such intimidation tactics in the future, as Wikipedia provides oceans of knowledge for the public
The current status of the Mawlid article actually requires more information and seems incomplete. As such, the various articles found on mawlid.ca will contribute to the Mawlid article section here on Wikipedia.
If there are going to be any legitimate accusations being made, kindly provide factual information to prove that Mawlid.ca is in violation of Wikipedia's policies.
Best regards,
Akbar Khan
