This would be the second of only two albums in Metallica's history to feature only 3 songwriters. Lead Guitarist [[Kirk Hammett]] was not credited with any songwriting contributions on this album. Hammett said that he had recorded between 250 and 300 riff ideas onto his cell phone between 2012 and 2014, but he accidentally left his phone in a cab while in [[Denmark]]. The other album to feature only 3 songwriters would be their 1996 studio album, Load.
