Following World War II, British research into radar systems continued at facilities such as the Signals Research and Development Establishment (SRDE. Among the key contributors was Ronald Hugh Barker, a physicist and engineer who played a significant role in the digital development of radar systems. His work on pulse-code modulation and digital transmission methods also contributed to early experiments in encrypted radar signals and the foundations of modern air traffic control systems.
