Novato High School has a comprehensive academic program including a variety of college preparatory courses, along with Honors and Advanced Placement classes, fine and performing arts classes, and industrial arts courses. Additionally, the school supports the award-winning{{Fact|date=May 2007}} Air Force [[Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps]] Program, which provides a curriculum focused on aerospace and science. Novato High School also provides support services such as the English Language Development (ELD) Programs for those students who require additional resources.
 
Varsity sports teams of note include football, baseball, basketball and water polo.
