The short story was also made in a short movie starring [[Christopher Walken]] and [[Susan Sarandon]] and directed by [[Jonathan Demme]]. The movie was made in [[1982]] and was one of the first movies for these two actors to appear.

The short story centers around a character named Henry Nash who is an extremely shy and characterless small-town man. However, whenever he takes a part in the local, amateur theater production he becomes the character. Soon, Helene Shaw, a new person in town falls in love with Nash - or she falls in love with the character he is playing in the play.
