''Discovery'' è noto per essere stato il primo album dell'ELO senza il trio d'[[Archi (musica)|archi]], fino ad allora fisso, composto da [[Mik Kaminski]], [[Hugh McDowell]] e [[Melvyn Gale]], anche se comparvero nei [[videoclip]] realizzati al posto della [[tournée]]. Poco dopo i membri del trio d'archi furono dichiarati non necessari ai requisiti del gruppo e quindi licenziati (poi Mik Kaminski ritornerà nel [[1981]]-[[1982|'82]] per una tournée e nel [[1983]] per l'album ''[[Secret Messages]]''.
