Their [[manager (professional wrestling)|manager]] was [[Afa Anoai|Afa]] and they started out as [[heel (professional wrestling)|heels]]. During their stint in the WWF, Samu was replaced by [[Sione Vailahi|Sione]], who had previously wrestled in the [[professional wrestling promotion|promotion]] as '''The Barbarian''', in 1994 just as the team [[turn (professional wrestling)|turned]] [[face (professional wrestling)|face]].

The Headshrinkers [[gimmick (professional wrestling)|portrayed]] a pair of [[Samoa|Samoan]] savages, often displaying uncivilized behavior such as biting into a [[turkey]] carcass during a match and dragging each other by their hair. They were also billed as having hard heads that were impervious to pain; any attack that targeted a Headshrinker's head would have no effect, and an opponent who tried to [[Professional wrestling attacks#Headbutt|headbutt]] one of them would end up hurting himself.

[[Lou Albano|Capt. Lou Albano]] made an attempt to change the Headshrinkers into more orthodox wrestlers when he became the team's second manager. He succeeded to some extent, but the team broke up in 1995 when Sione was signed by [[World Championship Wrestling|WCW]] and Fatu began a singles career.
