'''Boothville-Venice''' is a [[census-designated place]] and collection of neighboring communities located in [[Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana]]. This area, consisting of the communites of Boothville, Venice, and Orchid are counted as a single town for purposes of the United States Census. As of the [[2000]] census, Boothville-Venice had a total population of 2,220. Boothville is the most populous and northernmost of these communities, all located along Louisiana Highway 23 on the West Bank of the [[Mississippi River]].
Boothville is very near to where [[Hurricane Katrina]] made landfall on [[August 29]], [[2005]]. According to the [[Baton Rouge Advocate]], very little was left standing in either Boothville or Venice, the few buildings that survived had water up to the rooftops ([http://2theadvocate.com/stories/083005/new_cnbkat001.shtml]), and the area orange groves had also been submerged.

According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the CDP has a total area of 13.1 [[square kilometer|km²²]] (5.1 [[square mile|mi²²]]). 6.7 km²² (2.6 mi²²) of it is land and 6.4 km²² (2.5 mi²²) of it is water. The total area is 49.01% water.

As of the [[census]]{{GR|2}} of [[2000]], there arewere 2,220 people, 746 households, and 584 families residing in the CDP. The [[population density]] iswas 333.5/km²² (863.2/mi²²). There arewere 933 housing units at an average density of 140.2/km²² (362.8/mi²²). The racial makeup of the CDP iswas 61.94% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 28.74% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 3.38% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 4.01% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.00% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 0.27% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 1.67% from two or more races. 1.22% of the population arewere [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race.
