***La Stratocaster è lo strumento principalmente usato da Gilmour, molto modificato durante gli anni: nel 1970 usa una Stratocaster bianca con [[battipenna]] nero e [[pickup]] di diversi colori, generalmente affiancati da un manico in acero del 1957. Vi è anche uno switch che permette di combinare i pickup al ponte e al manico. La chitarra è doitatadotata di un ponte mobile [[Seymour Duncan]] con leva che appartenne a [[Jimi Hendrix]].<ref name=gish>{{cite web|url=http://www.gilmourish.com/?page_id=66 |title=The Black Stratocaster |publisher=Gilmourish |date= |accessdate=2009-01-19}}</ref> Nel periodo seguente l'abbandono di Waters, durante i tour di ''A Momentary Lapse of Reason'' e ''The Division Bell'' la Strato usata è una replica del 1984 della Candy Apple Red '57 completata da un set di [[EMG, Inc.|EMG]] SA pickup con i controlli dei toni rimpiazzati da un mini boost EMG SPC e un filtro passabanda EXG. Tale effetto fu usato in ogni tappa del "On An Island" tour nell'esecuzione di ''[[Shine On You Crazy Diamond]]''.

***Gilmour possiede anche una stratocaster #0001, che non è però la prima stratocaster mai costruita, ma la prima ad avere il numero seriale. E' stata usata per l'ultima volta allo Strat Pack Concert nell'arena di Wembley nel 2004.

***Una replica color crema del '57, usata solamente nel tour dell'84, nella prima parte del tour che lo ha coinvolto tra il 1987 ed il 1990 e nel Live 8, in cui è stata usata anche da [[Tim Renwick]]. Dotata con gli stessi pickup EMG e circuiti dei toni della Candy Apple Red '57, dopo il concerto al live 8 il manico fu messo sulla chitarra principale nera.

***Gilmour is the owner of [[List of Stratocaster players#F.E2.80.93J|Strat #0001]]. However, this is not the first Stratocaster ever made, but the first to be given a serial number. It was last seen at the Strat Pack Concert in Wembley Arena in 2004.

***Cream coloured '57 reissue. Used at 1984 solo tour and at the early parts of the 1987-1990 tour. In the 1994 tour it was used as spare guitar. [[Tim Renwick]] played it with David and the rest of Pink Floyd at their Live 8 set. This Strat was fitted with the same EMG set of pickups and tone circuits as the aforementioned Candy Apple Red '57 reissue and after it's use at Live 8, the cream finished guitar's neck was transferred to David's main Black Strat.

***Sunburst Stratocaster. '63 rosewood neck with '59 body. This guitar was given to David by [[Steve Marriott]] of Humble Pie and the Small Faces, and though David didn't like the guitar enough to use it very long, he preferred the neck to the original one on his black Strat and switched the two. The sunburst Strat was used as his spare and slide guitar in subsequent years (sporting the maple cap neck with a large heastock from the black Strat), and the rosewood neck remained on the black Strat until 1978.

***White with white pickguard. Used in the late 1960s. Received as a gift from the rest of the band.<ref name=gish2>{{cite web|author=The White Stratocaster |url=http://www.gilmourish.com/?page_id=67 |title=The White Stratocaster |publisher=Gilmourish |date= |accessdate=2009-01-19}}</ref> Stolen in equipment heist in 1970.
