Autoformatting date ranges
Autoformatting is incompatible with date ranges. Users really don't understand what they are doing and produce formats such as '12 January - 17'. That is worse than nothing at all. It is not difficult to create code that will work with date ranges but it is difficult to create code that is easy for users and doesn't require fixing by those of us that don't like broken autoformats. I wonder why complaints about the broken autoformats were rare and efforts to fix broken autoformats were rarer. :See #Date_autoformatting_example_ready_for_testing, directly above, where there's some discussion on the syntax (or proposed syntax, UC Bill is still working on this I believe) for dealing with auto formatted date ranges. —Locke Cole • t • c 14:03, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
