Line 3:
It was built in the 19th century as a commuter town for those travelling to Glasgow and Edinburgh as its railway station is a stop between the two cities. Lenzie means 'swamp land', and was formally used for farming. Now it has shops, schools, churches, parks and sport clubs like any other suburb.

Its main school is Lenzie Academy, whose former pupils include Scotland rugby international, Andrew Henderson and Travis guitarist Andy Dunlop amongst others. And more importantly, the former Secretary of State for Scotland, Tom Johnston; bon homme Stephen Thomson; and the current Chairman of the Labour Party, Ian McCartney.
