====Communicative language teaching====
[[Communicative language teaching]] (CLT) is an approach to the teaching of languages that emphasizes interaction as both the means and the ultimate goal of learning a language. Despite a number of criticisms,<ref>[http://tonvanhattum.com.br/comreth.html van Hattum, Ton van (2006), The Communicative Approach Rethought]</ref>
it continues to be popular, particularly in Japan, Taiwan<ref>[http://rel.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/36/2/211 The Trend and Challenge for Teaching EFL at Taiwanese Universities]</ref>, and Europe.
[[Task-based language learning]] (TBLL) is a particular approach to CLT which has been gaining ground in recent years. CLT is very important for developing and improving the students' skills in speaking, writing, listening and reading; otherwise the students would merely listen passively to the teacher without any interaction, which results in passive learning. It is the teacher's responsibility to encourage the students' creativity. These teachers have to enjoy what they are doing.
