Do not tell people how to do deprecated things, per WP:BEANS; also, <tt> is for representation of computer output, not for the use [un]recommended here (WP guidelines should not suggest uses that subvert the purpose of the [X]HTML specs!).
The italic stuff is already covered above, as it says, so no need to repeat it here. KISS principle.
