Post transcriptional modification refers to the process by which, in [[eukaryotic]] cells pre-mRNA is converted into [[messenger RNA]] (mRNA). This process is vital for the efficient and correct [[translation]] of the genome by [[ribosome]]s and for the export of the mRNA from the [[nucleus]] for translation.
