A two-digit [[Federal Information Processing Standard]] (FIPS) code [http://www.itl.nist.gov/fipspubs/fip5-2.htm (FIPS 5-2)] uniquely identifies a state, territory, or commonwealth within or of the [[United States|U.S.]].
