Dragon Ball Z: Budôkai Tenka'ichi (the games original name used in Japan is "Dragon Ball Z: Sparking!") is not an actual part of the DBZ: Budôkai series. The game was developed by Spike and published by Atari and Bandai in the US and Japan respectively. The game has more than 50 playable heroes and villains. In addition this game has fully destructible environments. Almost all characters from the Budôkai series are in this game (including Dodoria, Zarbon, and Android 19 from the first Budôkai game, but eliminating Supreme Kai, Uub, and Omega Shenron). Some of the new characters are Janemba, Master Roshi, Chiaotzu, the Oozarus, Bojack, Bebi-Vegeta, Super 17 and the Ginyu Special Corps. members Guldo, Burter and Jeice (who were left out in the Budôkai games, only appearing alongside Recoome and Captain Ginyu in the introductions).

There are 57 different characters, with 87 different forms in total. Even with the removal of Supreme Kai, Omega Shenron, and Uub, this game has the best roster thus far, finally bringing back excellent villains such as Zarbon and Dodoria, Frieza's top two henchmen, as playable characters. The game is quite different from the Budôkai series, it uses a behind the back camera to make the feel of DBZ. The gameplay is a combination of the Budôkai games with a 3rd person view and controls. It is possible that Kiwi (Cui in the dub) exists in a hidden item, but there has been no way of unlocking him thus far. By using an "unlock everything" cheat from multiple cheat systems, you can unlock everything - including an item called "Error", located under the Guldo item. But has nothing on the card but "This File is Wrong. This file is a deleted item"
