Criticism
When a user signs up for the WAYN service, they are given the option to import contacts from an online address book (such as Hotmail, Yahoo, AOL and Gmail) by providing their username and passwordprivacy and send them an invitation to join WAYN. However, WAYN has been criticised by some users, who felt that it is made too difficult to unsubscribe from these "invitation reminders". Recipients can unsubscribe from these "invitation reminders" by clicking on the link at the bottom of the invitations and entering your email address. This blocks your email address from receiving any further correspondence via the WAYN.com service.
In addition, when a user signs up and is given the option to import contacts from an online address book, the link to skip that step is in small print and easily overlooked, making it appear that importing addresses is a requirement rather than an option. If a person selects one of their online address books for import, they are given a chance to uncheckmark anyone who should not receive an E-Mailed "invitation" (by default every address is checkmarked for import and sending invitations). It appears to be impossible, however, to import addresses into your WAYN account without sending one of those E-Mail invitations to everyone who is not already a WAYN member. By linking the two functions, people may be sending invitations by accident when they simply want to import an address.
