ClaML is an acronym for Classification Markup Language. This is an xml data format specification meant for the exchange of classifications in health informatics.
It has first been published as Technical Specification CEN/TS 14463:2003. The 2007 revision of ClaML has been accepted as European Norm EN 14463:2007.
The ClaML standard has been prepared by Working Group 3 (Semantic Content) of the International Organization for Standardization's (ISO) Technical Committee (TC) on health informatics, known as 215 WG3.
ClaML has been adopted by the WHO to distribute their family of international classifications.
Specifications availability
The official specifications document for EN 14463:2007 can be obtained freely from the authors, the ISO/TC 215 Working Group 3. This document includes the DTD (document type definition). A separate download for the DTD is no longer available.
The DTD used to be available from http://spec.terminologies.eu/en14463-2007.dtd; this site is offline now (august 2012), which effectively breaks validations of documents containing a reference to this DTD.
As a CEN standard, the ClaML specification is also available from the various European national standardisation bodies, and can be found via the CEN website.
