The Virginia Modeling, Analysis, and Simulation Center (VMASC) began as an idea, a concept driven by need: the JTASC<ref>[http://www.jfcom.mil/about/abt_j7.htm Joint Warfighting Center]</ref> required short-courses and formal training of its staff and [[Old Dominion University|ODU]] determined it would take on that task.
