Please note that there needs to be some quality control in giving these permissions, because we don't want instructors simply to use Wikipedia as an easy place to dump students, as has started to happen recently. Anyone can, of course, come here and teach a class by having students work on pages, and they don't need anyone's permission to do so. But if we are going to give them extra tools to facilitate the project, we are entitled to expect them to show a willingness to work within Wikipedia's ways of editing (much as we require for someone who wants the rollbacker permission).
