Adolfas Mekas (1925-), born in [[Lithuania]], came to the United States and started [[Film Culture]] magazine with his brother [[Jonas Mekas]] in 1954. He directed a number of films including [[Hallelujah The Hills]], a landmark of the [[New American Cinema]]. In 1971, Mekas founded the Peoples' Film Department at [[Bard College]], where he continued to teach until recently retiring in May of 2004.
