Nasce quindi il [[northern soul]], movimento che accompagna e si mischia alla storia del modernismo lungo tutto il decennio, le caratteristiche stilistiche mutano: viene quasi del tutto abbandonato lo ''smart look'' tipico della [[swinging London]] a favore di quello ''working class'' dei primi [[skinhead|skin]] e [[suedehead]], così come i completi e gli scooter lasciano spazio ad uno stile casual, funzionale al ballo acrobatico nei dancefloor del nord del paese.
