John Rutty ([[1697]]-[[1775]]) was a [[Dublin]] physician and author of many texts including ''A methodical synopsis of the Mineral Waters of Ireland'' published in [[1757]]. After his death the botanist [[William Henry Harvey]] named the genus ''[[Ruttya]]'' after him.
