The Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute beganstarted in 1992 as a research group started in 1992the by[[University Dr.of Utah School of Computing]] by [[Christopher R. Johnson|Chris Johnson]] and Dr. Rob MacLeod. In 1994 this group became the Center for Scientific Computing and Imaging, and in 2000 the name was changed to the Scientific Computing and Imaging (SCI) Institute.
