The FastStone Image Viewer was first released in [[2004]] by FastStone Soft. Since then, a new stable version of the program has been released every few weeks to few months. The latest released stable version of the program is version 2.8 which was released on [[October 28]], [[2006]].
On October 28, this legal notice was posted on their site that all users should be aware of:
** Important Legal Notice: Previous versions of FastStone Image Viewer (versions 2.7 and lower) and FastStone Capture (versions 4.6 and lower) contain a copyright issue with some of the icons employed. If you have any of these versions in your possession, you must immediately completely uninstall and/or delete them, ceasing any and all use of these program versions. This issue has been resolved in the current versions (versions 2.8 and 4.7, respectively) of the noted programs. Please ensure you use the latest versions of FastStone Image Viewer and FastStone Capture.
