Essendo un ''mantra'' comunemente recitato, spesso insieme al ''sūtra'', sia nelle tradizioni del [[Canone buddhista cinese]] sia in quelle afferenti al [[Canone buddhista tibetano]], esso è all'origine di numerosi commentari religiosi<ref>Princeton Dictionary of Buddhism, a cura di Robert E.
