Lo studio dei sistemi [[Telematica|telematici]] è iniziato come il sotto-ramo dell'[[informatica]] che si prefiggeva lo scopo di comprendere e razionalizzare l'amministrazione [[ICT]] nelle aziende per portare a compimento l'informatizzazione del sistema informativo aziendale. Con la convergenza di informatica e telefonia nel più ampio sistema telematico, la materia si è evoluta trasformandosi in un campo di studio superiore all'interno delle maggiori facoltà di amministrazione e gestione d'impresa del mondo.
