Pillman debutta nella [[WWE|World Wrestling Federation]] il 10 giugno 1996, e [[Vince McMahon]] volle subito blindarlo, visto che la federazione stava perdendo talenti come [[Kevin Nash]], [[Scott Hall]] e [[Lex Luger]].

Subito dopo [[WrestleMania 13]] Pillman si unisce alla [[The Hart Foundation|Hart Foundation]].

Dopo una breve faida con [[Stone Cold Steve Austin]], ne comincia un'altra con [[Goldust]] che procederà fino alla sua morte.
